In this task, we are required to analyze “Joker” movie poster using semiotic perspectives. ​​​​​​​
Interpretative Codes
Joker is well known as a villain and famous among the other villains.  
He's Batman main rival.
Scary clown.
Depressed and full of laughter.

Textual Codes
The text for the main title 'JOKER' can be seen full of grains and the 'K' has scratches which represents that the person's life is full of scars. Joaquin Phoenix name is on top of the title. This is to show to his fan that he is the main character. 

Technical Codes
It's a portrait kind of shot. Only half of his face is shown. The lighting is above his face/head. The background is dark and contrast with the main character. 

Social Codes
Underneath the clown's makeup, it can be seen that he is not smiling at all. you can see that he is not happy. The red paint on his lips and cheeks symbolize a smile. In his eyes, there is sadness and loneliness, with the blue paints representing like tears. Overall, he is actually hiding all his depression and feelings under the mask.
