TurtleBot: a home assistance robot

The TurtleBot (created at Willow Garage by Melonee Wise and Tully Foote) is a low-cost, personal robot kit with an associated mobile-based open-source software platform to operate the hardware. TurtleBot does real time obstacle avoidance and autonomous navigation by running Standard Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms to build a map that can be controlled remotely from your smartphones. With TurtleBot, it is possible to have a robot that can drive around your house, see in 3D, and have enough power left to create additional applications.
