When words are stuck, turn to pictures
A blank page, an idea and the rest is on the street
Spending time in a foreign country is a good thing in general. You become surrounded with new habitat, visual culture, sounds, behaviour. For me one of the most interesting thing concluded to a many kinds of graphic materials, mainly flyers found in the public space. All they have aesthetic qualities as well as a strong and good idea behind them. I realized it would be a good thing to put them in a sort of catalogue, so I can turn back to them as a source of inspiration. It turned to be more than that. All these cards became my words and expressions, so I started calling the catalogues diaries.
It's a good way to store your ideas and thoughts.

The elastic band makes everything look straight and neat.
Using one continuous page may look chaotic, but actually work fine and this also gives you a lot of room to experiment and make intriguing situations.
I've always liked the inner structure of the cardboard, so making it a cover was an easy choice.
The fabric created softer feeling and also made a good contrast with the ruff cover and the smooth surface of the pages.
The book I saw had a blue fabric on the side. I decided to experiment with the fabric for the cover by putting acrylic sealant mixed with blue tempera. It worked great, creating a nice finish to the side, also providing a good grip.
This was the first thing I found in Berlin, at the bus station...
