120mm | portraits

These portraits were taken with a 120mm black and white film. The photos experiment with different studio lights: direct - direct and reflected - indirect - indirect and reflected. Besides experimenting with how different kinds of lights work, the project required to emphasise in some kind of way, the person portrayed. I decided to take my images as naturally as possible, so I took these pictures while having a conversation with her. In some of them she is pulling some of her typical faces, yawning or just staring at me.

The development
Taking the pictures was just the first part of the project. The second, and most difficult, was the second one: the development of the film. Since it was my second time doing this process alone, I had some pretty funny break downs but eventually it turned out as I wanted.

Here there is the creepy film after the development

The final images

In some of the pictures, noticeable especially in the white-backdrop images,  there are some lines on the edges. That's due to some light leaking during the development of the film. Although some people could find it disturbing, I actually really like how they look so I've decided to keep them in order add some unique elements to the portraits.
