Typography in Saigon

I had the chance to visit Vietnam for the first time in 2019. It was lovely! Snapped some photos with my Samsung Galaxy S7, and did some type work.

So, I love food. When travelling to new places, it's always the food that I look forward to. And Vietnam is pretty much a wild gastronomic adventure.
It's my first time in Vietnam. And the first thing I wanted to see was the churches. So I got on a GrabBike and went around Saigon. Sadly, it started to rain on my third church, so there's that.
First one was the Notre Dame. Unfortunately it was closed due to repairs. But that didn't stop me from getting this nice shot of the facade, with a beautiful statue of Mary.
And the Tan Dinh. This was first in my list. But the Notre Dame was closer to our hotel.

There's also a quick process video below on how I did this graphic.
After the city, we went for a quick tour around the Mekong River. It was a definitely picturesque scene despite the searing sun.

This one isn't inherently Vietnamese. Part of the trip was having lunch at this restaurant beside the Mekong. Even had the chance to eat some live coconut worm!
Here's another shot at the Mekong. We were so glad that the weather was fantastic. We didn't have to chase for sunlight to do stuff.
After the trip, I'd love to go back. Most of my Vietnamese friends were in the Philippines when I went, so I didn't get to enjoy the place with them. But hopefully soon!
