JACKALOPE, 2016

This creature took my interest by its contrast appearance of fusion of two animals. The rabbit creates an impression of vulnerable creature in need of protection and caress, whereas the deer is sublime, dominant animal, with his antlers reminiscent of king's crown as a king of the woods.
I identify myself with this spectacular connection of fragility and toughness, also this contrast of jackalope is strongly symbolic for me. Contrast that is necessary in life, as a positive pessimist, or a forgetful intellectual.
I first started with modeling of jackalopes body of clay. The muscles were stylized into geometric lines. I took effort on playfulness and sharpness of these lines. Creature is in lurking position, observing, ready to interact in any moment.
