This series of poster aims to communicate three different aspects of building 8. Building 8 is an architectural example of the Postmodern style designed by Edmond and Corrigan in 1993. The originality and a sense of the local flavour of the building make it distinctive on Swanston Street, in the heart of Melbourne and that is the main reason in choosing this site for this project.
This series, I intended to experiment with different colour combinations and the shapes of rectangle and square from a two-dimensional perspective as they are the highlight of the building. I have used a lighter version of postmodern colour schemes to add a sense of modernness. The exterior of the building is decorated with various shapes and colours, yet, the patterns are structural and organised at the same time. Thus, the first poster aims to explore the balance of shapes and postmodern colours of this feature of the external building. The second poster is inspired by the colourful entrance and windows that can be found on every floor. I mimicked and emphasised the randomness of the structure and colours of the windows with my design aesthetic.
The last poster intended to explore the tile pattern with different colour combinations that appears to be another highlight of this building. The form of ‘a piece of tile’ is interpreted and presented by making a paper folding. When the paper is unfolded, it becomes a wall that covers with tiles.
