Jarlhettukvísl in the Highlands of Iceland

By making Hagavatnsvirkjun Hydraulic Power Plant the lower part of Jarlhettukvíslar with rapids and waterfalls will disappear. An infusion into a 2 km long ditch that leads to the Jarlhettukvísl across the ridge and into the lagoon (over 455 m y.s.) must be 3.5 to 4 km inside the Jarlhettudal Valley. The excavation of this ditch along with roads will be a great blemish in the unspoilt land.

With the construction of the Hagavatns power plant, the vast disaster area at Hagavatn will be destroyed, but it has some of the most important geological formation in the country about the history and effects of the glacier disaster in the 20th century.. . . .
