Kagiso is an independent editorial project shot in Ormonde, Johannesburg (just 2km shy of Soweto). This project is an initial step towards creating collaborative projects with Sowetan professionals and aspiring creatives. The editorial is a low-budget (or none at all) reimagining of the experiences that I have gained while assisting renowned photographers on high-end photoshoots for magazines and relative publications. The low-key aesthetic is derived from a combination of early 2000s local film and television like Jerusalema, Yizo Yizo and Gaz'Lam, paired with South Africa's progressive street-culture scene.
