This was a project I did for a bit of fun. I wanted to do something a little different and using some motion gfx mixed with 3d anim.  I built star Lord and set him up with vray shaders and cloth sim.

I spent some time rotoscoping a clip of some dancers from World of Dance.. I edited down a  4 minute clip into a 1minute and found some clips that worked with the song.  Once I had those I horoscopes the footage with star Lord.  Tbh I could have spent more time on it but I ran out of time because I was asked to work on Spiderman far from home for 6 months lol.  Towards the end I decided it would be fun to have groot in there and I started building a model for him. I rigged him up with a similar rig to star Lord so the anim dropped straight on him.

Renders were done in vray using zdepth and motion vectors so I could do both of those things in comp.

Composite was a collection of space elements and other random marvel inspired graphics comped around the dancing.  I just had a play here really but exporting the camera data put from Maya to afx helped to keep things flexible.

It was still a bundle of work and could always by polished but time is the one thing I have none of now working for my own studio and being my own boss. Being a dad saps time too lol!
