The new Øya Psychiatric Hospital is located at the meeting point between St. Olavs and

Øya, facing the hospital to the southeast and low-rise housing to the northwest. The building is meant as an addition rather than a replacement to the existing Østmarka. The program is split into an outpatient and an inpatient part, the latter combining an acute reception, an open and a closed ward. The hospital is characterised by its terraced gardens and ground-floor, providing patients with contact to nature and various activities.
