iJUSI TYPOGRAFIKA
BRIEF
We were required to generate a font/ typography which would be inspired by Durban and its people or Africa.
SOLUTION
My inspiration arose from the beauty of zulu female traditional attire and so I created a font called Indoni - indoni is actually a berry that grows in rivers or dams and gets very sweet when ripe, in the African culture Indoni is used to describe the beauty of an African girl/ woman. In the attire, we adorn ourselves with beaded wear, not caring to cover up things such as our breasts, because we celebrate our bodies in tradition not hide them. My font expresses the vibrance and beauty of the different type of bead work worn and the African female body adorned by them.
