The Epitome of Art and Humanity
Every year, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai celebrates the city's spirit of art and culture. For a span of nine days, South Mumbai is centre of the cities attraction. The city is covered in the realms of rich creativity and ideas. There is always a lot to look forward to at the Hindustan Times Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2018. One of the main objectives of this of this is to make possible the use of spaces in empty areas.
This year the festivals theme was HARA GHODA, and the main objective was to capture every visitors attention to the beauty and wonders of nature. Every year Kala Ghoda appreciates and crosses the boundaries of imagination. Like every year the festival has a magnificent lineup of arts, dance, music, theatre, lectures, cinema, literature special events for children and heritage walks.
Kala Ghoda has been extremely successful in keeping up its legacy of presenting extraordinary ideas. But this year there was something more than just a visual treat, this year empathy was reflected through art. Jaslok Hospital which is located at Peddar Road, came up with unique ideas this year. They initiated a Lighthouse Installation, Donate your Heartbeat, and certain Nukkad Natak’s.
Donate your Heartbeat was a beautiful initiative, the idea was that all the visitors were approached by Miss.Manisha who had a box with a stethoscope attached to it. Miss.Manisha was collecting heartbeats to compose a tune which would not comprise of any sound of an instrument just heartbeats.
Lighthouse Installation was another exceptional idea, for the first time in the history of Kala Ghoda a piece of art would be created by the visitors volunteering to draw and fill colours to their thoughts and perceptions. Each of these canvases painted by the visitors were put up on a structure of a lighthouse. The moral behind these canvases being arranged in a lighthouse shape as told by Mr.Abhishek the mastermind behind

strange when you hear it right ?
The idea behind this was that, they tired to pass on the message that any person who donates an organ to a cancer patient becomes an angel because of their kind deed. Anybody who helps somebody lead a better life or frees them from problems is an angel in the eyes of god.
These ideas and initiatives aren’t the only exclusive ones, definitely there are more which are equally gripping and innovative. But for the first time humanity was escalated to be seen as art, which is extremely heart rendering.
