Flower Machine

These two images represent two flowers. Their petals are made of different fabrics for camouflage, generally used by military forces around the world. The aim of these clothes is to blur in a natural environment, using colors that match with the earth and the vegetation around.

Here there is the attempt to bring to the extreme this objective, by creating an element of the nature, a flower, using the same materials that want to look like it. Their mean becomes here finally explicit. Tools made to be useful in killing and destroying, try to merge with life. To be even more lethal, they try to imitate nature - life. These lifeless flowers represent the achievement of the intelligence behind them, which annuls itself in an artificial nature, ready to kill.

The title refers to the so called "War Machine", meaning the combination of efforts, that create a sort of evolving organism, always growing, aimed at destroying the enemey.

These are flowers born without life, with the purpose of taking it away.

Queste due immagini, sotto il titolo “Flower Machine”, rappresentano due fiori. I loro petali sono costituiti dai vari tessuti mimetici usati da molte delle forze militari del mondo. Questo tipo di vestiti, riprendendo i colori del terreno e della vegetazione, ha lo scopo di confondere e rendere di diffcile indivduazione i soldati, in un ambiente naturale.

Il paradosso è qui tentativo di estremizzare il fine di rappresentazione della trama del naturale, cercando di costruire un prodotto della natura, un fore, attraverso questi stessi tessuti, che tra gli elementi di essa vogliono confondersi. Grottesco diventa quindi il loro signifcato, reso defnitivamente esplicito. Strumenti per facilitare l’uccisione, cercando di confondersi alla vita. Il mezzo letale cerca un mimetismo tra i vivi per essere ancor più letale. Questi fori senza vita, rappresentano questo abominio, il coronamento dell’ingegno, fno al suo annullamento in una natura artifciale e pronta ad uccidere.

Il titolo fa ironicamente riferimento alla macchina della guerra, cosiddetta “War Machine”, con cui si può intendere l’insieme di investimenti e sforzi bellicci, che porta ad una sorta di organismo in continua e forente crescita ed espansione, volto a schiacciare l’avversario.

Fiori sbocciati senza vita, allo scopo di toglierla.
