University Degree Show Identity- Signature

Brief- to create a concept, design a visual identity and promotional campaign for the 2019 Graphic Design degree show and related events.

Concept- we wanted to make the students the main focus of the degree show. Our aim was to create a show that differed to other years, as previously they have been more about the theme rather than the work.

Solution- Signature represents the unique and individual course, students and work that NTU produces.

Our colour scheme included the colours red, a darker blue and a lighter blue as this is suitable for all and represents the theme well. The toolkit also included perspex and transparency as a reoccurring element. This was to allow the students and their work to be at the forefront and to not take away from their talent.
This is the logo for the degree show with NTU (Nottingham Trent University) covering the part of signature with the same letters. This video shows the rolling logo that would be played on social media channels, on the website and in the degree show space. The 'NTU' changes and shows different student's handwriting. This continues the personal theme.
Altogether the identity of the degree show would cover the Instagram feed and give people a familiar design that will then be present on the day. The personal applications will be shown, to give an insight into the students on the course, as well as their work and photos of them, to give people an initial meeting to the talent that is on show. Each post will be tailored and individual to the student.
To further imply the personal touches to the degree show, each student would be given a chance to show their personality through these statements. They could choose to be more fun or imply their design style for potential employers. These statements would then be included on social media platforms, in the degree show space and on the website.
At the degree show, individual concertina booklets would be available for potential employers to take away with images of students work. They would also include contact information. By creating individual booklets for each student, people can create their own ‘catalogue’ of work they like.
This is the homepage of the website, as it loads up the signatures from each student appears, to create a log of everyone on the course.
To continue the theme of perspex, we created a transparent invite that would allow the recipient to get an idea of what the show will consist of. Each invite would be personalised with the studio’s name.
As well as the invite, other touchpoints would also be included. Business cards would arrive to give more information on where to look for information, in the run up to the show. Also, a card would be included, that allows the studios to interact with the students through personalised messages on social media.
We created a video that pitched our idea to the year group to encourage them to choose our theme. The video shows members of our course signing their names on a piece of perspex to imply that our theme is stripped back and only focusing on the students and their work.
