Selected artworks January - May 2019. In these works I am using mixed materials such as fabric, twine, mesh, wood, pins and metal rings to create unconventional paintings where the physical structure of the support often determines the composition. Often times I cut through the canvas leaving a hole. This "absence" in what is normally part of the picture plane becomes a ground point, an anchor with a sort of gravitational pull. In other works I have combined multiple canvases or allowed elements to extend beyond the canvas.
