The Wind in the Willows is a book full of whimsy, imagination, and a deep appreciation of nature -- and I aimed to capture as much of that as possible in my cover design. I chose to create an idyllic scene using layered paper, which has a handmade quality that captures a sense of childhood while also alluding to the anti-industrial undertones of Grahame's novel. More importantly, perhaps, the layers are intended to allude to the many steps of each journey undertaken in the course of the story.
