Lee Tung Avenue mural design:
Tuen Yun 團圓
Lee Tung Avenue offered our college an opportunity to exhibit students' work on the street during Chinese New Year. I was able to design a mural to be exhibited at the location.
“Tuen Yun 團圓" is designed to commemorate my late grandparents and uncle. To me, Chinese New Year and family go hand in hand. Hong Kong elements have been incorporated into the design, particularly sparrows and Mahjong tiles. The sparrows form a pig as 2019 is the Year of the Pig.
To me, Chinese New Year is all about family and love. I wanted to incorporate Hong Kong elements into the design and chose to do it with sparrows and Mahjong tiles. This piece is about remembering our heritage and being there for our family members. The sparrows also form into the shape of a pig as 2019 is the Year of the Pig.
