Lice-sense
2015-2016
In this series,  named “Lice Sense”, I tried to have a different, personalized approach to techniques. in other word, to the work process. The main subject in these works is a cocoon-like shape, the shapes are recurrent and the attempt is to find an individual style is what is constant.

Based on the process, at first, I painted the shape with PVA glue, when it dried out, I painted the surface of the canvas using a monochromatic color scheme then added the tonality with scratching by sandpaper. Yet this technique is indeed not a self made technique but it made me contemplate other possible methods.

This series of work is also an attempt at utilizing Gestalt design principles. The faces that are seen through the thunderstorms, were not intentionally painted from the beginning. I started to see unrecognizable face shapes as I was adding layers of glue, and I decided to emphasize on the facial features to make a bit more recognizable for the audience and engage their deeper visual perception.
