One Student's Way of Giving Back to the Thomas Community
Almost any day during the winter season you can find Isaac Salisbury ’20 volunteering his time cleaning the campus ice rink.

At his home in Freeport, Isaac’s dad would build and upkeep an ice rink for them to use during the cold and long winter months we often experience here in Maine. Carrying out that passion into his college years, Isaac was thrilled when Assistant Dean for Student Engagement Recreation, Jim Delorie told him that there would be an outdoor rink coming to Thomas College.

“Knowing that my father went here and the community it brings is amazing. I knew I was going here after my first tour.”

Since that tour, Isaac has become Vice President of the Investment Society, a member of the Varsity Golf Team, and a committed participant in many other campus clubs and organizations. However, his volunteering commitments don’t stop at Thomas College. In previous years, he has volunteered at animal shelters, church organizations, summer camps, and has even been a camp counselor at Pilgrim Lodge.

Jim Deloire says that “without the help and dedication to clearing and surfacing the ice rink from Isaac, the rink would not have been as successful as it has been.  Isaac has been instrumental in the success of this campus addition.”

At Thomas, Isaac studies sports management and dreams of working at the United States Golf Association—a place where he can continue his passion for the sport and work hard doing what he loves.

For seasons to come, be sure to thank Isaac for his hard work and dedication to the upkeep of the campus ice rink. And in the words of Isaac Salisbury—go skate!
