D&AD 2013: BBC Brief

Introduction

In response to the BBC D&AD 2013 Competition Brief I redesigned the BBC’s websites from the ground up. By doing so I’ve created a responsive, innovative design that sits comfortably with the BBC’s content structure and allows vast flexibility when presenting content.

Living Tiles - The home page content consists of live tiles, which have constantly changing images or a single video playing on mute. The tiles are ordered depending on what filter is applied. The size of a tile relates to how important the content is.
Make it Personal - Personalise the BBC by logging in with your BBCiD. Get real-time information such as local weather as well as a customised page showing content tailered to your requirements.
Filter Content - The solution presents a unified structure that allows users to filter content. When filtering content tiles are automatically readjusted to form a new page.

Full Screen - News pages will now show either a full screen video or several full screen rotating images that relate to the article being viewed.
Layers - There are now lots of layers to the news page so you can retrieve the information you want when you want it.

The article itself, the author of the article and user comments, can now be accessed via buttons at the top of the news page.
