Printable Sticker

Here I began the process of creating a sticker set. From the beginning I knew that I wanted to do something with the theme of Idaho.

Idaho is were I am from and where I attend college at BYU-Idaho. The state runs close to my heart. So I began with trying to draw the state of Idaho. It was tricky and took a ton of practice.
I also messed around with other stickers that could go a long with Idaho. I did fish, potatoes, a text base of Idaho, maybe a building.. I was unsure. So sketching helped
I wanted to add trees the actual state of Idaho and drawing the tree took a long time. I was struggling to get a shape I liked. I took these sketches and tried tracing them with the pen tool in Illustrator.

THEY LOOKED MORE FUNNY THAN THE DRAWINGS. I couldn't believe it and then I had an idea.

I drew over my sketches with the pen tool on ONE side. I then used the reflect tool to reflect that side. I was amazed at how better my tree looked in illustrator. Huge fan of the reflector tool is all I am saying. It saved my skin when trying to make a simple tree.
I went through several stages of critique.

I knew at the start my original wasn't that great. I had a weird looking potato and my Idaho state could use some more detail and improvement.
There was a lot to fix and needed feed back on what I could do better.

So, I busted down and ended with this final result. I changed from a potato to a fish!

The project taught me a lot about illustrator and other tools I could use to enhance my abilities in Illustrator. I have plans to print off the stickers for use!
