Design and Narration
My project is about revaluing a broken piece of glass. How can I do to show that even a broken glass can still be used or even fixed ?

The purpose is to show that when you broke a glass, you don’t always need to put it in the trash and buy a new one : you can find another purpose to a broken piece, use it for something else or fix it by yourself.

With my project, I wish to encourage people to « DIY », to tinker and use their hands.
It’s also a way to denounce the quantity of waste we throw away. We are in the times where poeple sort their trashes, try to waste less, they want to protect the planet. And sometimes, some wish to do more but don’t really know what to do as a lonely person.
Well, this is an idea : don’t throw your broken objects away, vase or cup, try to re-use them, to find an other purpose to them, be imaginative and give them a second lilfe !
I was inspire by a place which is magic to me : a bunker in Dueodde in the island of Bornholm. This bunker has been built in 1940 by danishs people for the Germans. It has been a really hard construction : bigger roads for materials have been made, winter was also really hard for the workers. Then in 1941, construction is cancelled, however they had to finish the building. Workers decided to stop working, claiming that there wasn’t enough machines. At the end, the bunker has been built with a delay.
So this bunker has been built in a purpose but has never been used. Guns never came : it was abandonned.
Later, some graffitis appears on the bunker walls. In 2017 an association decided to renovate the bunker because it was a part of Bornholm’s history and it’s important to remember. They wonder if they should earse the graffitis or not. Some said that the buidings should look like it was in 1940, others said graffitis gave something more to the building.

I was thinking that I could create a piece in glass who has a specific function (like the bunker) and then don't put it in the annealer (abandonne it). The piece is gonna break and after I will decorate it (representing the graffitis on the bunker) and then re-assembly all the pieces from this firt piece and in this way give a new life to the piece without changing his first purpose. I could also try to stick all the pieces together in another way and create a new shape always trying to not change the first function of it.
