Poster Throwback
The mockup used above was provided by Hrvoje Abraham Milićević.
I have always liked the psychedelic style when it came to patterns, especially the font that was featured on some posters. So while contemplating what theme I should do for this project, I thought it would be fun to try my hand at designing a psychedelic style poster.
Brainstorming
While sketching, I had a general concept in mind. Since wanted to go with a psychedelic theme, I chose some elements that I thought I would find on a poster. The biggest thing that came to mind was swirls and abstract patterns.
The Initial Design
As I was sitting in one of my classes, an sudden idea came to mind and I settled on a layout for the design. Some of my peers took a look at my draft and wrote down the feelings they for the poster and they were pretty spot on for the concept. However, they said there were too many tangents and that the splotches were too close together.
The Final Product
In the end, I decided to keep the colors simple and just stick to 4 colors. By making the background the same color as the strokes on the splotches, it fixed the problem I was having with tangents. I removed the guides that were on the corners where the text was and had the text be the guiding lines instead.
