Our screenprinting class, taught by Todd Maggio, was asked to create posters for the upcoming student show. We had free reign on the design, as long as it contained the necessary information for the event. 

I honestly did not know where to start for this project. I started drawing random designs, tried different layouts of the type, etc. I ended up doodling some of the monsters under the bed and decided I liked the way they looked together. I thought it would be funny to have monsters under the bed waking the dreamer because many times during my time in art school I am haunted by ideas for projects and critiques of myself. 

I created the poster by using two screens. I laid down the black layer first, then came back with the green layer. To get the glowing effect, I basically splatter-painted the bottom section of my screen with yellow ink, and it mixed with the green ink that I made from the yellow ink, a bright blue-ish/turquoise ink, and extender. Under the yellow safe lights, I could barely tell what was happening as I was pulling the posters, but once I got them into a bright white light, the effect looked way better than I imagined.
