Synopsis
A journey of a 7 year-old boy's acceptance of his grandpa's death in a traditional Taiwanese funeral.

Statement
Through out the prescribed, vivid and ritualised Taiwanese funeral, the initial emotion of losing significant one is no longer expressible straightforwardly. After the observation in ceremony, we want to express a pure sentiment through an innocent 7-year old kid who has not been experienced or taught to any belief about death, how can he expresses it on his own way.

Process
We organized the team around a pitch presented by Yen-Chen, inspired by a recent event in his own life. After that, we all worked on it together, thus completing the story.

For the preproduction, we wanted to achieve a very unique look, heavily inspired by illustrations. it was important to us that the look reflects the culture presented, but most importantly, we wanted to see it through the “eyes of a child”, since the film main focus is the boy’s perspective on this situation. We aimed for the almost infantile look of oil pastels, broken perspectives and vivid c
olors.
