Smaller Introverted Creatures
The illustration imitates the display of taxidermy animals in a natural history museum display. It attempts to question our perception of animals, as hunted trophy heads and stuffed lifeless creatures used to decorate our museums and homes.
Some of the animals present in the drawing are the most trafficked animals in India - The Pangolin, Tokay Gecko , Red Sand Boa , Star Tortoise and The Indian Mongoose. Being smaller shy creatures, these are not given importance , as the spotlight in conservation is stolen by larger animals like the tiger and elephant. Through this work I have hoped to bring the attention of the audience to these lesser known animals.
