Music is something that everyone has in common. No matter what type of music you enjoy, We all connect on that level. I wanted to create an icon set that would use instruments from the music we love. This icon set uses 12 instruments, simplified into their basic shapes. My objective is to create something that everyone could recognize and be interested in.

For the Sketching process, I was not sure where I wanted to go with these. Interments can either be super complicated, or simple. The hard part was thinking of how I could make it simple enough to recognize. Even though I did not exactly sketch what it was I was looking for, it set me off to a great start.

Here are a few of my vector drafts. I was very confident about what I had started. I liked the theme and feel of the icons, as well as the uniformity that had. They all felt like they were part of a set. Some peers suggested to me how I could make my shadows better, so I made 1 more icon that set me off in the right direction.

After a lot of brainstorming and bringing my ideas to life, My final set of icons were created. With all of the different shapes and colors, it brought all of the icons to life. Each ones catches you eye and leads you to the other icons.

I felt after doing all of this, I met my objective of creating icons that were for, simple, and would be easy to understand and recognize. Even though they don’t look anything like what they are to resemble, it makes it fun to look at.
