Hilin (pronounced "high line") is a surf wax company that concerns itself with the environment surfers love so much. It seeks to create a product that has no impact on the oceans or beach ecosystems. All the packaging is made from 100% recycled and biodegradable products, and printed with 100% environmentally friendly, non-toxic inks. Hilin seeks to differentiate itself from the other surf brands through its modernistic design, specifically in the logo as well as the packaging. By adding the distressed texture to the logo, and packing it relates the design back to its roots of something that's made from scratch and from reused materials. Also, the use of colors within the packaging allow for it to pop on the shelves, catching the buyer's eyes. The monochromatic color scheme on the packages allows for easy differentiation between the waxes used for differing water temperatures so when the waves are firing and the surfers don't want to stop for long, they know at a glance they are getting the product. Hilin aims to sell towards any surfer who needs some wax, but specifically to surfers in their mid teens to early 30's. The design, and colors are geared towards those who may be a little adventurous in trying new products. Hilin's unique packaging also makes it easier to store, and get the wax out. Unlike other wax companies packaging, Hilin's is based off a drawer so users do not have to worry about tearing the box apart to get to what they need. Just by sliding the inner sleeve out the wax is stored in, users can grab it and get in the water quickly.
