Stage 1 - Concept Generation and Development

Quick deliberation with the client on use case, user experience, and functional requirements. 
Presented several thumbnail concepts and a developed idea that was translated from sketch to 3D model on Solidworks.
Stage 2 - Product Refinement + Design for Fabrication

Internal components were changed to allow for a more compact design. The final product was intended for a 3D printed alpha prototype, and several features were added to optimize user handling and wear.

The final design implemented a wedge lock system on four posts around the Qi transmitter PCB, with the transmitter coil mounted on the inner surface of the top cover with a 1.5mm material gap between the coil and the receiver inside the headphones.

Design features included a raised bed for the transmitter PCB to sit on that encouraged ventilation for internal heating and protection. A “skirt” was also designed from the top cover to hide any gap between the top and bottom covers when closed.​​​​​​​
