Ember is a portable oven which uses and guides the stove's flame to create ideal conditions for baking. It's a solution designed to facilitate baking in small domestic spaces. Therefore, It perfectly matches single and childless couple needs. Thanks to its size, Ember bakes faster and in suitable portions, making it a possible daily healthy meal option.

INSPIRATION

Ember refers to small fragments of charred coal that retain heat.
Ember is inspired by the small pieces that preserve the vitality of fire and have the power to rekindle it. It is the unit that keeps the spirit of fire to make it burn again.

INSIGHT

A need for baking (healthier food) in small domestic spaces

the research focused on 3 themes, which constitute the context and the target of the design solution

Regular built-in ovens use a large space that can be a valuable storage capacity in the kitchen, which becomes smaller and smaller. In addition, conventional ovens have low average usage due to multiple stigmas:
- High energy consumption
- High cooking times
- Lack of knowledge in its operation, turning it into a product not suitable for amateurs.

A solution designed to facilitate baking

Ember is a portable oven which uses the stove’s flame as a main source of heat for baking

Its monolithic design is sleek and clever, bringing huge beneficial impact in manufacturing and usability.

In order to expand the range of dishes alternatives, Ember counts with multiple accessories for each type of preparation: a tray for cupcakes, a multi-purpose tray, a refractory container, and a shelf.

HOW IT WORKS

Heat distribution system

the heat is by the corners upto the top where bounces off the lid and bakes the top side. The heat is also concentrated in the center to bake the bottom side. The air circulates through outlets

Ember´s lid integrates a glass window to check preparation easily without open it; the air outlet to release pressure and the handle.

TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT

Display thermometer components

Temperature inside is measured by a regular thermometer with a display. This delivers the data to the app.

Ember´s guide app

Ember is integrated into an app to keep track of recipes and preparations. The app links to thermometer data and takes control during the recipes steps.

MVP (minimum viable product)

In order to quickly check the functionality, a test was run by using a regular aluminum pot with some holes in the bottom. It was successful. Ember would work perfectly.
