The objective for this brief was to design a book, as well write the content there of. For the content we were required to take a current media based story that encompasses a social, political or environmental stance and change the characters in the story to fictional characters.

For my book I decided to focus on the current drought in Cape Town. In my story I decided to focus on life after day zero when the taps run dry, rather than focusing on the days leading up to day zero. It focuses on the germs and diseases that will take over due to poor sanitation. People dont necessarily realise all the consequences that come after day zero other than having to queue for water. My title ‘Over?’ refers to this train of thought, as after day zero it only gets worse.

My bright colour palette is in contrast to the dry and dull state caused by the drought. It also shows how the germs are taking over and thriving. 

I decided to make use of watercolour illustrations paired with a simple typographic layout complimenting the bright busy illustrations.

Our deliverables were to create a book which we had to print and then bind the book ourselves. Other deliverables included the story content of the book, all illustrations for the book, a dust jacket for the book, an accompanying book that can be used for journal purposes aswell as a container that will hold both the actual storybook and the journal like book.
