[GAME DESIGN] Starside (Tapps Games, 2016)

Starside - Celebrity Resort (Tapps Games, From 2017 to 2019)
Starside is a hybrid Match-3 game with narrative and world customization. It was my biggest experience in the game industry (QA and GD wise) and my contributions were many.
Main activities in the project:

Quality Assurance:
      - Release management;
      - Bughunting;
      - Localization tests;
      - User Testing (card sorting, survey, gameplay mediation, focus groups, internal and external tests);
      - Data analysis;
      - A/B Testing (variable changes, .json review, Google Firebase & Analytics).

One of the things I did the most during my time on Starside's team was UX Research. Starside was Tapps' first try on giving significant attention to user research and UX analysis and it was the first game to receive an external user playtest. Throughout the project I led the following major external playtests:

- First Levels Gameplay Test;
- Tutorials and New Mechanics Test;
- Narrative and Quest Engagement Test.

All of those, from conception to completion and analysis, lasted nearly 3 months. They were all made through an online testing platform called PlayTest Cloud, in which we specify the player's demographics to our will and they record their gameplay (with sound and 'click' feedback) for us to watch and take notes. They were mainly qualitative tests and we crossed the results with the live data we got on Firebase Analytics. I was responsible for each phase, idea, planning, creating the questions and keypoints to analyze, watching hours-long videos while noticing player behavior and UX issues, reporting and documenting everything with the gathered data from the analytics. For some of them, I did presentations to the team to expose the results. They were all successful and valuable researches.

Apart from the external tests, I did inumerous internal tests with new Match-3 mechanics and and other simples User/UX researches and validations.

Game/Narrative Designer:
     - Writing Chapter 0;
     - Writing Advisory and Reviewer for Chapter's 3 and 4;
     - Quest Design (Chapters 0 to 1) 
     - Critical Analysis and Review of the whole game's Narrative Design;
     - English and Japanese texts reviews and improvements.
     - Narrative flow prototypes; 
     - Texts and Microtexts reviews (UX Writing);
     - Benchmark analysis; 

On Starside, we always had a serious concern regarding the Narrative. As one of the game's main loop, it was important for us that the storyline felt compatible with our public and that it made a difference towards the game's long term retention.
 
During my time on the project, one of the main missions I gave myself was to assure our Narrative's quality. I questioned it's old one, did countless meetings with our product owners and backed up by the team, I managed to coordinate a huge User Reseacrh with emphasis on testing Starside's Narratives and its different approaches to our terget audience and personas. 

Between planning, making and analyzing, the whole process lasted about three months and it was a huge success. The team worked on several improvements and I managed to rewrite the game's chapter 0 on my own.
