For photo-reference I use photo by Steve McCurry, which I found in his album called "India", which was presented to our family while we had been living in India. The composition is called "Girl and Father"
During my workflow I recorded a series of video which I start sharing on YouTube describing how I treat each step.
It took me around 2 month to make the final piece and the main cause for that was the lack of time.

Here I share my workflow and experience of creating this image from "scratch"
I start from capturing main proportions of the girl's body using zsphere in Zbrush, moving to Marvelous designer for creating clothes, Substance painter for texturing, I then demonstrate how I set up my render and materials, and I finish my composing in photoshop.
