My name is Adrienne Sanchez, and this is a compilation of my work from my 2D Design class this semester.
Exercise 1: The Dynamics of Structure
An exercise focused on studying the structural relationship of geometric shapes, and learning to arrange different shapes into a compelling design.
Exercise 2: Expressive Use of Line
An exercise focused on exploring the expressive use of implied texture, as well as the endless possibilities available in creating a completely line-based composition.
Exercise 3: Introduction to Illustrator CC & Typography
An exercise meant to be a sort of first look into the capabilities of Adobe Illustrator. An exploration into the shapes of letterforms and the negative space they can form.
Symmetrical vs Asymmetrical layouts using only the letter A.
Exercise 4: Typography & the Principles of Emphasis
Another exploration into the potential of letterforms in design, this time using the designer's initials and a limited number of values (white, black, and a single value of gray).
My first and last initials (A and S) vs my first, middle, and last (A, E, and S).
Project 1: Chromatic Value Scale
My first time using gouache paint. The purpose of this project was to teach beginning gouache users how to properly mix both tints and shades of gouache.
Project 2: Monochromatic & Asymmetric Design
The assignment was to create a design to demonstrate the illusion of deep space in gouache using a monochromatic color scheme. Another learning experience as far as mixing proper tints and shades.
Project 3: Original Design with Emphasis
A cumulative gouache piece demonstrating everything that is taught by Cal Poly's 2D Design classes. A strong focal point, displaying the principle of emphasis, was the main requirement of this piece, along with the two-palette requirement.
