The brief was to produce a set of three typographically focused posters that acts as a three months advertising campaign for Ministry of Sound's Saturday Sessions.

When we did our research we found out that each of the series of advertisement had a strong conceptual theme. As these posters were for September, October and November we wanted to show that summer holidays are finished and everybody is back to work/school, so the only time to let their hair down is the weekend.

First we came up with some sentences to encourage people to explore the Saturday sessions, that in Ministry of Sound anything can happen but we were not sure if they communicate what we wanted clearly, so we started to include the days of the week to show the difference between the two. This lead us to use the initials of the days – MTWTF and the weekend SS for Saturday Sessions. We found that the weekdays included the initials WTF that shows people feelings for the weekdays, but in the end we decided not to emphasize this. We also had to be very careful using the letters SS together, as it carries very bad connotations. So to avoid this we decided to write the words ‘Saturday Sessions’ on each poster.

To keep our message clear we decided to keep our type simple, but we also wanted to make it dynamic and created a 3D effect as if the type is leaning towards the weekend. Another thing we realized in our research is that the MOS posters are very different to other night club posters, they stand out with their bright colours and their bold colours. We decided to stick closely to their colour palette, but use effects to bring the letter to life, and to give them some extra texture. We reached our final images with using different layers with different effects and opacities on them. On each poster we used the purple background which is their main, corporative colour.
