Pain

These are the portraits of three men that have had a great influence, first in my own country and at the same time on the whole world, during the last years. They are Silvio Berlusconi, George Bush and Tony Blair. The last two moreover are the supporters of two ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq (2012).

In this projects I searched for that feature that in politicians and strategists and generally in men that have a great power (with their actions touching the lives of millions): pain.

The interpretation of this feature, digitally created for their faces, can have different meanings depending on the observer: personal suffering due to the weight of their political role in the society and for the consequences of their actions in our history; a suffering they hypothetically deserve as the result of their decisions that in many cases created extreme problems; or again a personal pain that is felt looking back at what has been done and seeing finally how would have been possible to take the right ways, avoiding many of the errors already made.
Anyway, the attempt here is to give to these masks, the faces used as a façade, far away and blank, a new humanity, a sensitivity, a real concern for the role that they have willingly took in front of the world. A concern, a sensitiviy that is usually all but obvious.

Questi tre ritratti rappresentano tre degli uomini che hanno infuenzato, in primo luogo il paese in cui vivo, e in secondo luogo l’andamento della geo-politica mondiale degli ultimi anni. Si tratta di Silvio Berlusconi, George Bush e Tony Blair. Questi ultimi due in particolare fautori delle guerre in Afghanista e in Iraq, tutt’ora in corso (2012). In questo progetto ho cercato quell’aspetto che è del tutto assente nei politici e negli strateghi, in quei personaggi dotati di un grande potere, che gesticono le sorti ed il futuro di milioni di uomini: il dolore.
Nell’ottica di questo progetto l’interpretazione è lascita libera all’osservatore. Questo dolore, impresso digitalmente sui loro volti, queste lacrime che ho posto sui loro volti ma che sono d’altri, possono rap-
presentare molteplici forme di sofferenza: quella personale, dovuta al carico di così vaste responsabilità e a quello che le loro decisioni in merito hanno portato in alcuni gravi casi; un dolore che dovrebbero
subire invece come conseguenza, quindi infitto, in seguito alle loro azioni e alle conseguenze che hanno avuto per molte persone, ritrovatesi vittime; o ancora un dolore loro personale, ripensando al pas-
sato del loro agire politico, e a cosa con le conoscenze di ora potrebbero aver fatto diversamente e cambiato. A parte queste interpretazioni, si cerca qui di dare a questi volti di facciata, distanti ed inespressivi, una emotiva umanità, una sensibilità vera, preoccupazione reale per il ruolo che essi hanno volontariamente assunto davanti al mondo intero. E che invece è normalmente
del tutto assente.
