The Degree Show Poster 2018
This poster was made in order to promote our Degree Show at Solent University where the final works of graduates were exhibited.
We were told that the poster had to promote the course or the work of other people on the course. I chose the way of promoting the course through my own experience and impression that the course left in me throughout the academic year. The thing what was really new to me and that I never had experienced before was the technique of signwriting/ signmaking/ asemic writing. That technique developed from the japanese calligraphy and is an exact opposite of making perfect brush strokes. You just leave your head open to allow your hand do unexpected strokes.
In terms of making it even more personal, I combined asemic writing with pictures that I took one day when I was on my way to school.
There are also some images included from the development book that was necessary to hand-in with the initial poster.
The whole poster was one big experiment as well as the way of experimenting in other projects and that was the essential thing on the whole course - to experiment.
