Fentress 2012 Workplace

I took this competition as a fresh start for my second year in Tampere University of Technology. I developed the concept in the Vlisco site - the real site for our Elir Industrial Reuse Workshop. The rich history and diversed patterns in this old factory in Helmond inspried me the rymth of fabric flying around in the interior space.

PULSE - the rhythm of fabric
Concept: P U L S E - W O R K P L A C E - A S A N I N S P I R A T I O N  F O R  C R E A T I V I T Y  A N D  C H A N G E
TRADITIONAL WORKPLACE
>>> linear workflow / separation / individualism / HIERARCHY / limited FLEXIBILITY
NEW WORKPLACE PLAN - FLEXIBLE LAYOUT
>>> TEAMWORK / INTERGRATION / INNOVATION / FLEXIBILITY / COLLABORATION / COMMUNICATION
PSYCHOLOGY AT WORKPLACE: the mutual relationship between INDIVIDUAL >>> INTERPERSONAL GROUP >>> ORGANIZATION
This psychology at workplace can be considered at different scale, one is Job satisfaction, including ambient conditions, workstations and supporting environment. As a result, it brings out the Job performance.
CONCEPT: PULSE - the energy at workplace to encourage collaboration and innovation
The concept based on a proposal for the renovation of a printing fabric factory inside the city Helmond, Netherland.
A NEW WORKPLACE SHOULD BE A COMBINATION OF THREE FACTORS: SOCIAL + TECHNOLOGICAL + ENVIRONMENTAL.
AT URBAN SCALE:  URBAN TRANSFORMATION AND WASTED SPACE / the old Vlisco factory is one of identical images of the city Helmond. However, the remaining buildings and facilities ruin the surrounding urban landscape ( with a castle and green park next to the mill). The renovation concept concerns about functional transformation, from  a production mill to a creative design quarter.
The main building, as the focus object in this project, will be renovated to be the exhibition space of Vlisco heritage and the fashion/ textile design on the upper floor.
