Assignment 4: Texture Transitions
Digital Images
Untitled, Inkjet prints composited from scanned textures in Photoshop, 12 x 6"
Untitled, Inkjet prints composited from scanned textures in Photoshop, 12 x 6"
Description: For this assignment we played with the idea of "contagion." Each image is made up of three different things scanned into a computer and then manipulated in Photoshop. The first image reads from left to right and the second image form front to back. For the first image my inspiration was a type of brain therapy used to cure an alien disease from the podcast, "The Message." This process involved shooting air bubbles into the brain to create a sort of echo chamber. My inspiration for the second image was a culture or bacteria growing and spreading in a petri-dish.

Assignment 3: Tiled Composition
Untitled, tiled pattern created in Illustrator. (2018)
Description: For this composition I was restricted to only black and white hexagons. This was a challenging set of guidelines to follow, especially when trying to create a variety of element for this piece. I over came this challenge by using different line weights to separate each form.

My inspiration for this piece was the idea of a disease spreading through a population. The completely white hexagon represents a healthy portion of the population. Each time the disease spreads or worsens I added a smaller hexagon inside. In the end the population dies off and breaks apart, as depicted on the right side of this piece.
Assignment 2: Loop Pattern
Untitled, Loop Pattern Generated in Processing (2018)
Description: The inspiration behind this composition was a scene from the podcast "The Message." The scene takes place in a hospital room. In this clip of audio the two main sounds that you hear are the heart monitor and the host of the podcast talking into the microphone. The red ovals represent the steady beat of the hear monitor and the smaller green circles represent the rising and falling or the chatter of the different voices in the scene.
