Bodoni Type Specimen

In my first year of studying graphic design, we were asked to create a type specimen showcasing the beauty and application of a typeface of our choice. I chose to highlight the Bodoni type family because I loved how it was classy, timeless and elegant as well as modern, bold and playful at the same time. By designing the whole book in black, white and a playful splash of pink, I aimed to showcase just how versatile this typeface can be while having fun with layouts and compositions all the while.
Here we have a portrait of Giambattista Bodoni himself, the father of the Bodoni type family, made entirely of the letterforms he designed.
A spread featuring compositions made up of Bodoni's uppercase and lowercase letterforms.
A spread featuring a composition of the Bodoni typeface's numbers and symbols on the left and a cheeky pangram about a tipsy Queen Elizabeth on the right (to reflect Bodoni's qualities of sophistication and playfulness, of course).
