This was done as part of the course works during the 'Craft creativity and postmodernism' module in second semester of my M.Des program in IDC.

1. Animal abstraction in Bamboo - Snail (Using Coiling technique in Bamboo and pyrography technique)

The brief was to choose any animal/ bird/ insect of choice and create an abstract form out of bamboo. I chose snail as my inspiration. The shell is made of thin strips of bamboo using coiling technique. The circular patterns and the dots on the shell were created using a pyrography pen.

2. Bedside Lamp design with bamboo (Conceptual Model)

The idea of this design was to retain the visual characteristics of the bamboo but also to incorporate metal to give a modern touch. The pineapple weave is used on the sides to create an interesting play of light when it is lit.
