Everything that flourishes in green eventually has to come to an end. Even though the summer goes by so quickly, in a toddler's mind it seems to last forever. 90 days of summer usually occurs in Lithuania. More or less. I remember when I first arrived in this place being 7 or 8 years old, it seemed so big and interesting. I used to explore a lot together with my neighborhood friends. We used to go so far far away, as far as behind the distant railroad leading to Naujoji Vilnia. There we'd find a small lake that was so clear you could see cancers crawling around the bottom. I loved that place very much even though I've been there only a couple of times. There used to be a house near a small pond in which me and my family lived and spent the majority of our summers. Now someone bought that land together with the house and demolished it. Now it's a place for someone's trampoline. But the memories are still there even though the place itself has changed beyond recognition. The only thing I could remember when I was revisiting it was the smell of ripe apples nearing the fall. If only I had a camera back then... All I can do now is go through all those small cottage houses and bathe in the smell of ripe apples.
But all memories tend to get distorted in the end...
