“Fawzun”

Young and old...everyone is here today to watch the local champions ride their gentle beasts at the arena in Ibra, where the annual camel and horse racing takes place. Camels need to be tamed. Skillful animal whisperers look straight into the eyes of the animal and whisper strange words. And in less than a minute, a camel as tall as a two -story building is on its knees, submitted and calm. Now it’s ready for the competition. Riders jump on the back of the animal, and it charges with full speed towards victory. 

Young teenagers attend to the camels, as the animals await their turn in this glorious tournament; Suleyman is one of them. He turns and whispers something. When asked, what he had whispered to the animal, he replied, “Fawzun...Fawzun...Fawzun...(victory...victory...victory).”
