The work describes the influence of gravity on the forms of architecture, taking into account the dependence of their form on the force of gravity. The selected form of the gothic cathedral serves as a tool to compare structural differences generated using a evolutionary structural optimization. The variants of forms presented in the paper aim to highlight the dependence of the influence of gravity on design solutions not only in our conditions, taking into account their topology and differences in aesthetics.


Two variants of generated cathedral structures 1G and 0,01G (1G = 9.80665 m/s2, Earth's gravitational pull), were created using structural optimization algorithms (ESO) and the force determining the form of final structure was only gravity.
