I wanted this piece to reflect the idea of belief. I took two different figures of history and aimed to form a bold contrast between the worship of a God and the trust in a tradition. I used an A3 sheet of board and a collection of felt tipped pens ranging from 0.05 fine liners to larger B sized markers.
I wanted to create a focus of detail on the two figures by blending types of shading techniques such as the stippling shown in the body of the Egyptian God, and the crosshatching in the leather of the Plague Doctor's mask. I wanted the background to aid the message of solidarity in belief, hence the use of space to allude size and power.

To create an unsettling feeling from this picture, I chose to pick characters that gave notion of inhumanity; the animalistic Egyptian figure and eerie Plague Doctor, that are yet both respectively honoured, and/or trusted throughout history.
