Fontaine Hall contains three independent functions: the Humanities Department Offices and Classrooms, the Marist Institute for Public Opinion (MIPO), and the College of Advancement Offices. The building occupies a complex site: a beautiful view of the Hudson River to the west, connections to the main campus to the south, a main thoroughfare and campus entry to the east, and future campus expansion to the north. Moreover, the site slopes a full story down from south to north. The building massing is a slender, double-loaded corridor bar allowing for maximum use of natural light. The large, doubleheight, west-facing gallery is fronted by a colonnade that provides shading. Each office has an operable window and a view of the Hudson River to the west or the main campus entry to the east.
