I was tasked with finding a solution to our limited editions. We had a lot of concerns from fans about how much space our limited editions were taking up on their shelves, wanting to give fans a good value for their money, and we had some internal concerns about making LEs more standard and quicker to concept. Instead of going through the ordeal of getting a new template for each LE as our pack-ins changed, we streamlined our sets into three configurations centered around art books. Each LE now contains at least a 20-page art book, and all other pack-ins are designed to go on the outside. Flat items like art cards, lenticulars, or bookmarks go in envelopes on the outside of the rigid box. Keychains, pins, etc go in a filler box on the outside. This way there's no wasted space inside the LE and we're able to dramatically reduce the amount of space a single release will take up on a shelf.
I worked on several of our pilot "slim config" limited editions in 2017 moving into 2018. Below are my projects.

Orange limited edition beauty spread. The rigid box had a pearlescent finish.
SERVAMP limited edition beauty spread. The rigid box had a rainbow silver finish and the stickers were on a rainbow holographic stock.
91 Days limited edition beauty spread. The rigid box had a leather texture.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress limited edition beauty spread. The rigid box had a gold metallic ink with red foil accents.
My First Girlfriend is a Gal limited edition beauty spread. The rigid box had a glitterkote finish over a neon pink background. Art cards are lenticulars that show the characters with clothing on, and with lingerie on.
