Runaways homeless charity

This was a branding project for a charity called Runaways. The idea behind the project was to create an identity that was aimed at both those who were homeless as well as people the charity would rely on to donate. The hobo code is a series of images drawn on walls and other surafces by the homeless to inform others what the sitution was like in that specific area, for example the square "U" means its a safe place to camp. I experimented with this idea and came up with a logo design that I felt could apply to both target audiences in an effective manner.
I found that the orginal symbols were applied using chalk and so this was an avenue I wanted to experiment with further. I found that by apply chalk to public areas it would reach the right target audeince as well as creating a sense of intregue to intice people who would otherwise ignore a normal advert. I created a stencil so the designs remained constant and used a chalk spray to apply them to various surfaces. The results can be seen below.
