The small format, subtitled "Architecture and Propaganda in the Western Perspective," is visually characterized by its references to the languages of Russian avant-gardes, formalism and the beginnings of the socialist realism – all in the contemporary Western perspective: the type pushed to the limits of the pages, the red color, the bold subheadings, Marek Pistora’s typeface Heligonka, and finally the drawings of the co-author of the Radical Realism Manifesto and the native of the then Soviet city of Vladimir, Alexey Klyuykov. On the cover, Lenin’s statue waves from the 1400 ft. height of the Soviets' Palace, a monumental symbol of the Soviet political, social and architectural ambitions and their ultimate failure.
